Email responses, A/R, A/P, payroll, taxes, all general accounting and financial reporting duties, HR issues.

What tasks take up the majority of your time each day?

One-off sales orders that are not processed according to standard procedure or process and resolving reconciliation items where no notes are given for process deviances. Ad-hoc, in the moment orders, must be processed in real time for waiting customers with the means available in our often fast-paced environment so this is just the nature of the small business beast I believe. I can always sort things out, but it is time consuming and I know frustrating to other teammates when I am trying to get the information needed for the proper accounting.

Are there any repetitive tasks that you find yourself doing over and over?

Accounting and finance is all pretty routine cycle work that is repetitive by nature of the job.

Which tasks do you find the most time-consuming?

One-off sales orders that are not processed as routine orders, customer service issues, and revenue recon items as a result of process deviation often with no explanation when we have a notes timeline to use.

Are there tasks that you feel could be automated or made easier with the right tools?

If money were no object we'd have fully integretated systems. But, we are a small business with limited capital. Our B2B wholesale system is quite limiting without credit memo and credit application/tracking capabilities. The upgraded version is cost-prohibitive.

What are the biggest challenges you face in your day-to-day work?

Ad-hoc orders that are not processed according to standard procedures/processes with no notes or communication. All fields not being completed in an order is also a challenge. The field is there for a reason. This is mostly a wholesale order issue or an issue when it comes to our gift certificates.

Are there specific tasks or processes that often cause delays or frustration?

Same answer as in above questions.

Do you feel like you have the right tools and resources to do your job effectively?

For a small business, yes. Though we never receive officail training on any of the software systems we use. We all learn on our time and by our own means.
